A well-sized Dog Villa is the difference between a cozy den and a cramped box. Too small and your pup can't stand, stretch, or turn comfortably. Too big and the crate loses the den-like security dogs instinctively seek out. Because every Dog Villa is handcrafted and shipped directly to your door, all sales are final once your crate has shipped — so it's worth five minutes with a tape measure before you order.
How to Measure Your Dog
You only need two numbers.
1. Length — nose to base of tail. With your dog standing, measure from the tip of their nose to where their tail meets their body. Add 2–4 inches of comfort room.
2. Height — floor to top of head (standing). Measure from the floor to the top of their head while standing naturally. Add 2–4 inches of headroom so they can sit up comfortably without their ears brushing the ceiling.
Pillow tip: the Cloud Pillow adds cushion but takes about 4–5 inches of vertical space inside the crate. If you're ordering both, factor that into your headroom number.
How to Measure Your Space
Every Dog Villa doubles as a functional side or end table — so measure your room like you'd measure for any piece of furniture. Check:
• Floor footprint (depth × width) where you plan to place it
• Height clearance for anything overhead — shelves, windowsills, wall art
• Door swing clearance so the acrylic door can open fully
• Traffic paths around the crate so your pup's den isn't in a high-bump zone
Leaving a few inches of clearance on each side helps the Villa feel like an intentional piece of furniture, not a squeezed-in crate.

Weight Is a Starting Point — Not the Whole Story
A 45-lb English Bulldog has a very different footprint than a 45-lb Whippet. Always prioritize your dog's length and height measurements over the pound count. When the numbers tell two different stories, trust the measurements.
When in Doubt, Size Up
Dogs settle more easily in a crate with a little extra room than one that feels cramped. The wider footprint of the Medium also makes for a more functional end table — a nice side benefit if you're on the fence.
